Due to the recent retirement of a long-term member of our management team, MileOne Autogroup, is now hiring an Assistant Controller. The Division Assistant Controller assists the Controller/CFO on overseeing the accounting practices of ten of our dealership locations in the Maryland/Pennsylvania area. This position would be located onsite at our Silver Spring, MD location.

Assistant Controller Summary:

The primary duties of the Assistant Controller are directly related to general business operations, including managing activities of all accounting personnel within their division. The position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment in processing and generating financial data for all dealership departments, which together represent the accurate financial condition of the business. The Assistant Controller identifies problem areas and opportunities for improved cash flow and profitability and provides timely, accurate reporting, to senior management.

Responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for hiring, training and management of all accounting personnel working with 10 dealerships generating approximately $1 Billion in annual revenue.
• Continually strive to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the Division.
• Supervises timely preparation and submission of monthly financial statements prepared in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Reviews accounting schedules and ensures that all general ledger accounts and manufacturer accounts, are current and accurate.
• Reviews reconciliations of general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, reserve accounts, factory payables, and floor plan payables, and verifies accuracy of reconciliations with outside sources.
• Interprets financial statements and daily operating control (DOC) reports regularly and informs senior management of developing trends.
• Participates in the preparation of short-term and long-term financial forecasts for the Division.
• Assists in the preparation of all information provided to outside auditors and tax preparers to ensure accuracy of information provided and minimize costs
• Provides supervision and assistance to all Office personnel in performing their daily responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• 5 years of related automotive accounting experience and/or training
• 3 years of management experience overseeing team of accounting professionals
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Proficiency with MS Office, Reynolds DMS and related software products
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with dealership operating teams
